Simone Biles has plans to open a new restaurant called A Taste of Gold at Bush Intercontinental Airport.
Fresh off winning gold at the Paris Olympics, Houston-based athlete Simone Biles is stepping into the world of hospitality.
The gymnast will be a partner in a restaurant at George Bush Intercontinental Airport called A Taste of Gold. Mark Brezinski will craft a menu meant to “wow” travelers.
Biles partnered with the Playmakers Group on the restaurant. The group operates restaurants from celebrities and athletes in airports; none are currently in Houston.
“I am a foodie at heart, and our hope with Taste of Gold is to offer a beautiful dining experience that features award-winning, signature menu items with some of my favorite flavors sprinkled in for our guests,” Biles said in a statement.
A Taste of Gold is under construction inside Terminal A and will be located near Gate A8. It plans to open in the first quarter of 2025.
“We join the millions of people around the world who find inspiration in Simone Biles, an athlete who continues to raise the bar while achieving success and defying expectations,” said Francisco Cuellar, Houston Airports’ chief commercial development officer. “Houston Airports is on the same history-making trajectory as we redefine what it means to dine inside an airport.”
Biles follows the path of other athletes who are dabbling in the restaurant space, including Shaquille O’Neal with his fast chicken brand and James Harden with Midtown restaurant Thirteen.
