Why Patrick Mahomes finally lashes out at Kadarius Toney after yet another blunder

Patrick Mahomes on Injury Report Ahead of Kansas City Chiefs vs. Buffalo Bills

Kansas City Chiefs wide receiver Kadarius Toney bobbled a perfect pass from quarterback Patrick Mahomes that led to an interception early in the fourth quarter of the team’s 27-17 road win over the New England Patriots on Sunday at Gillette Stadium.

Mahomes, 28, received a $50,000 fine from the NFL due to his criticism of the officials last week after they called an offensive offsides on Toney that erased what would have been an incredible lateral pass by tight end Travis Kelce to the Chiefs WR in question for a touchdown

Many pundits stated that Mahomes should redirect that anger towards his receivers, especially Toney, and he finally did it after the INT.

Mahomes was shown on the broadcast fuming on the sideline after Toney failed to make the easy catch and lip readers on social media quickly made out what he said.

“Are you f—ing sh–ing me? God, damn it,” Mahomes seemingly yelled after the interception.

Kadarius Toney could get cut by Chiefs

Chiefs lead the league in dropped passes and it all started in Week 1 when Toney failed to make a handful of catches. Nothing has changed.

There’s no way Chiefs head coach Andy Reid and Mahomes continue to trust Toney moving forward in the final stretch of the 2023 NFL season despite the fact that he did catch a TD pass in last year’s Super Bowl victory over the Philadelphia Eagles.

It’s possible that following Mahomes’ frustration with Toney that the Chiefs cut him before their Week 16 matchup against the Las Vegas Raiders.

Kansas City was leading New England 27-10 at the time of the interception, so it’s clear that Mahomes’ sideline outburst had but a sole recepient, Toney.
