The pressure just might be getting too much for Kansas City Chief’s star quarterback Patrick Mahomes to handle after his meltdown during their 20-17 loss to the Buffalo Bills on Sunday.
Luckily for the 2023 Super Bowl winner, he has his rock standing behind him, with his devoted wife Brittany ready to give her full support to the 25-year-old in what is proving to be a difficult time.
Mahomes has found it tough going in recent weeks and tensions boiled over when he unleashed a furious tirade at the officials over a controversial call that contributed to their defeat,
After the game, Mahomes admitted it was tough to accept the officials’ decision after they made – in his opinion – an error in calling offside against Kadarius Toney.
“It’s tough to swallow. Not only from me and football in general, to take away greatness like that, for a guy like Travis [Kelce] to make a play like that, you want to see the guys on the field decide the game,” he told reporters.
“They’re human. They make mistakes. But every week, we’re talking about something.”
Brittany’s heartwarming reminder
Mahomes’ wife Brittany, who backed her husband by criticising the officials on her Instagram account, chose to get off the warpath as the mother-of-two displayed her affection with a heartwarming post.
In an array of images posted on her account, which has 2.2 million followers, Mahomes is seen crouching down and embracing his young children – with Brittany grinning back at him on the touchline.
Making reference to Mahomes’ jersey number, she wrote: “Riding with 15 always”, accompanying the caption with a red heart to show her support.
Chiefs on a tough run
Kansas City Chiefs have looked below par in their last two games, failing to score even 20 points a game in their losses to the Green Bay Packers and the Bills.
If they lose their next clash in Week 15 against the New England Patriots and the Denver Broncos manage to win, the race for the AFC West top seed is likely to heat up.
The Chiefs still maintain a better record (8-5) at present than the Broncos (7-6), but they have embarked on a two-game losing streak at the worst possible time in the regular season.
It will be down to Mahomes to pick them up out of their slump as the season reaches its climax before the playoffs.
