Sweet gesture between Princess Kate’s mum and Prince William at Royal Ascot

Prince William was snapped with his in-laws Carole and Michael Middleton at the Royal Ascot horse races.

Prince William shared a loving moment with his wife, Princess Kate’s mother, Carole Middleton, at Royal Ascot on June 19, despite his wife being absent from the prestigious sporting event.

The Prince of Wales, 41, was spotted chatting to both of Kate’s parents on the second day of the glamorous event. In a brief moment, while chatting to other attendees, the two held hands and shared a tender moment. The touching gesture showed their close, familial bond which was a heartwarming display of unity and affection.

The rare form of intimacy which could be seen as a departure from royal protocol and showed the close bond between the Prince and his mother-in-law.

Princess Kate, 42, made her first appearance of the year, despite her recent cancer diagnosis, at Trooping the Colour on June 15 where she she traveled by carriage with her kids, Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis, and shared a look of love with her husband, Prince William on the Buckingham Palace balcony.

Although it was Princess Kate’s first royal appearance since she announced her cancer diagnosis in March with an emotional video, she is not officially back to work.

On June 14, the day before Trooping the Colour, the Princess of Wales shared a personal letter: “I’m looking forward to attending the King’s Birthday Parade this weekend with my family and hope to join a few public engagements over the summer, but equally knowing I am not out of the woods yet

“I am learning how to be patient, especially with uncertainty. Taking each day as it comes, listening to my body and allowing myself to take this much-needed time to heal.”

Upcoming royal engagements will be based on when she feels able and with the guidance and support of her medical team. Princess Kate also described her treatment as “ongoing” and said it will be for “a few more months.”

Behind the scenes, the Princess of Wales has started to work from home and hold meetings with her teams in Windsor, where she lives in Adelaide Cottage with her family.

The Middletons were first greeted by Zara and Mike Tindall when they arrived at Royal Ascot, before their son-in-law William joined the pre-race catch-up.
